When will ‘Alien: Covenant’ hit theaters?
The next installment in Ridley Scott’s “Alien” trilogy is set to open in theaters on November 10, 2020.
While the movie is expected to be a huge box office hit, its a good time to look back at some of the most notable films that came out after its theatrical release.
Alien: The New Ones (2002) The “Alien: First Contact” sequel has made a name for itself, but the sequel to Ridley Scotts “Alien,” was not as big a hit as the original.
The original film received critical acclaim, but it didn’t hold up in theaters.
However, “First Contact” proved that audiences would be interested in the original, and it was released on DVD.
“First Contact,” which starred Michael Fassbender, was an important film for the sci-fi genre, and was a critical and commercial success.
In 2009, the sequel was remade with a much different director, Ben Affleck, and the film was released to theaters.
The sequel earned a solid $110 million at the box office, but audiences did not love the new director.
An adaptation of the comic book series “Amazing Spider-Man” was released in 2014.
Michael Bay’s “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” is currently in theaters, and will be released in 2019.
A reboot of “The Hunger Games” is slated to open this summer.
Finally, the “Alien vs. Predator” sequel will debut in theaters in 2019, but its not clear if it will do well.
The first installment of the “Predator” franchise grossed over $500 million, but a sequel that cost $200 million was not the best box office option.
There is also a reboot of the beloved “Ghostbusters” series planned for 2019, which has a release date in 2020.
Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens (2018) “Star Wars” fans will be excited about this new “Star Wars.”
In 2018, “Star War” hit theaters, but “Star Trek Into Darkness” took over the box offices, and “Star Force” took the #1 spot.
The next “Star wars” installment, which will release in 2019 is set for release on December 18.
It’s unclear if “Star WAR: Episode VIII” will be able to live up to the hype of the first film, and is currently set for a 2019 release.
The movie will be directed by J.J. Abrams, and stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Gwendoline Christie, Andy Serkis, and Gwendolyn Christie Jr. Disney’s upcoming “Avatar” film will debut on July 21, 2019.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be in theaters April 16, 2020, and Disney is reportedly working on a third installment.
Another film to be released this year is “Captain America: Civil War.”
The Marvel Cinematic Universe film is set on the same date as the previous film, so fans are likely excited for the film.
As we move into the 2020s, look for films that will be announced, sequels, and other titles that will hit theaters before the end of the year.
